3-Point Hitch 4300 HST 3PT slow / barely working

I did one of those last year its a semi common problem mine had a broken roll pin. on the shaft ,that goes to the control lever, took lots of wd 40 and twisting cleaned up the shafts and put new seals and anti seeze cheap but a lot of time 8 hours for a broken roll pin cheap fix though that's the good side

I bought a roll pin punch set at a tool store. Took less than 5 minutes to get it knocked out:)

This allowed me to remove the other short shaft that exits the position control valve. It also had heavy corrosion and a worn out o-ring making it VERY difficult to knock out. Fortunately I ordered both new shafts and not just the one I had originally seen as the problem.

In the attached image the two shafts I'm referring to are #'s 28 and 33. I'm really scratching my head as to why it corroded around both shafts. My theory about the rubber washer being missing doesn't explain the corrosion on the other shaft. I have manually cleaned as much rusty residue from the housing as I can and I am obviously putting in new shafts... but I'm wondering if there is any type of treatment I should do on this housing before reassembly or if I should pack the exterior region with a good dose of grease during assembly? I just want to do what I can to minimize the likelihood of a repeat problem.

that's the same problem I had just takes time work shaft free lots of wd 40 , then wire brushs and anti seaze not grease makesure shaft is moving free before reassembly its caused by electrolissis alum housing and steel shafts

Well I thought I had it all fixed. I did a complete disassembly and replaced all o rings and the two shafts. Everything working very smooth. After reassembly I started the tractor and the 3pt raised from its lowest position to its highest position (don't know f I remember it ever going that high? Anyway, if I lower the rockshaft lever the 3point doesn't go down. Even with me standing on it with tractor turned off. 3 pt won't go down.

Of course the book says my control valve us faulty or bad but other than the semi seized rockshaft lever the 3pt would go up and down to reflect the slight movements I could get with the lever.

I'm pretty certain that I reassembled everything as it came apart. I'm wondering if being a little low on hydraulic fluid or air in the system can cause what I'm seeing.

Just looking for ideas and theories before I go tearing things apart again.

Thanks.

OK never mind. :) apparently somewhere along the process the knob that controls rate of drop was fully tightened. Easiest fix I've had so far!

I had corrosion get behind the rate-of-drop valve cover.

Dirt plus moisture, plus salts (fertilizer, horse urine, etc) builds up on top of the 3-pt housing
and stays there for years.
