I was having problems with my FEL it didn't have as much lift capacity as it should have and it would drop as I lifted it. It would always drop 3-6 inches after lifting it. When I asked the dealership they immediately dismissed it as bad hydralic cylinders and told me the loader was out of warranty and it would be $100 each to replace them. For a second opinon I posted the problem and someone came back and said to change the Hydralic oil and check the screen for a clog. That is the history of how I got to this point sorry if it was long winded. The tractor is a 1999 HST 4300 with a 430 FEL and about 140 hrs. on it. I changed the oil this morning and when I pulled the screen out I found a bunch of metal shavings some big and most large and small particals in clumps. I don't exactly know what to do now. Before I goto the dealership I would like to know if metal in the oil is normal? How much is normal if so? Also I have noticed the transmission getting louder lately so is it possible that a lot of damage is done? I already brought the tire scuffing problem to thier attention and our area (NE)is changing field reps. so I am waiting for that. Is this something that I will need to get the field rep. involved with from the start? Any help would be great the thought of having my toy on blocks will keep me up at night.
