- JD 4310, eHydro - R4, dual SVC, speedmatch/cruise, rear floods
Hi All,
I want to thank you all so far for the valuable input I have gotten by reading these postings. It has caused me to call into question the pricing on 4300's at a particular JD dealership in Connecticut, Midstate Tractor.
I went to JD's website and used their price configurator to get the list price of the following:
- JD 4300, HST 4WD, R4 Tires, mid pto, foldable ROPS, dual svc, power beyond and 2 rear worklights
- 420 fel with 61" HD bucket pre-drilled, bucket level indicator, and rear 3pt box weight
- 47 backhoe with 16" bucket
- 59" 2 stage snowthrower
The respective list prices were:
JD 4300 = $19,976
420 fel = $3,258
47 backhoe = $6,579
59" snowthrower = $4,085
TOTAL = $34,198
The guy I talked to at Midstate in Connecticut said that the best he could do was 10% of list. He said dealer would go out of business at 20%. In the past on tractorbynet postings, I have seen more than one person say that you should get at least 15% off list and some were getting higher than 20%. Will another dealer look at me like I've got three heads and a tail if I ask expect 15% off list?
I also saw on this site that it is safe to assume that the dealer paid about a third off list (33%) for the tractor. Is this all because we aren't in the heart off Deere Country here in Connecticut?
Should I try out of state? I also heard that JD is coming out with some 40-10 series or something to that effect that will replace the 4000 series. It was mentioned that pricing might be better on these, not to mention the hydraulic/steering leaks and other issues may be fixed. What do all you guys think? Gotta convince the wife and gotta figure out the best way to negotiate with these dealers. Any input whatsoever from someone who bought a 4300 from a Connecticut dealer would be very helpful. Thanks in advance,
Jonathan
