Tractor
Probably JD 4600 HST
I would like opinions regarding these two tractors. I am leaning towards the 4300, but would like any info comparing the two tractors. I like the featherstep hst and the quiet operation of the 3010, but overall seem to lean toward the 4300. I've been comparing the two for some time and am at a point I need to make a decision. Also, I like both of the dealers. Any help?

Both are great. JD has better ergonomics and I think, a touch more HP. Kubota has less plastic and maybe slightly higher assembly quality/reliability. Both are great. I'm personally a Kubota fan, so I'd save money and get the L3010. What's the price difference for you?

Thanks for the note. The difference that I've been quoted is minimal - both tractors, 4wd, r4's, with fel and 6' mower about 19.4. Although this seems high compared to some of the posts I see, I can't find a lower price at area dealers.

If you update your profile, maybe someone from your area can suggest a dealer in your area who might come down somewhat. I am an orange tractor fan also and shopped for months before putting the dealer together. The longer drive is not really convenient but we really like the dealer and it is worth it in the long run.

If you haven't already, get quotes from dealers within 50-100 miles, and one or two online dealers, for comparison... 5-7 total quotes if possible. That will give you an idea of what you can expect to pay in your area...

I'm deciding tonight - any last minute thoughts are appreciated. I drove them both again this afternoon - I don't really see how I can go wrong either way. Both dealers seem very good. Right know, the Kubota is $500 more.

The throttle is better on the JD, and the seat seems a bit more comfortable. I like the fel controls a bit better too. The HST pedal on the Kubota is very nice, and it is quieter. I think it has a bit better visibility too.

JD dealer points out the autobleed and says the JD has more power. Says KB parts more expensive.

Decisions, decisions....

Thanks for the info here and on the JD board. I've decided on the JD, but upgraded to the 4600 (never too much, right?). The responses I've received on the JD board have turned into a discussion on indirect vs direct injection discussion.

Just FYI, really liked both machines and basically had to flip a coin.
