4310 Hot Foot

Hey my old 4300 when using the mid pto the trans go so hot you could hardly keep a hand on it. All fluids were at proper levels and everything. Sounds like this may be a common problem. I also mowed in B range and our symptoms are the same.

gotta agree with you here,i just bought my 4410 and it has 3.1 hrs on it from mowing the other evening and i thought my feet were burning up.the outside temp. was in the upper 70's,maybe there is a fix to this as i will be looking for a way to redirect that air to flow out from under the machine.as soon as i know guys i will post the fix...........

ok guys,7 hrs. on it now and i know where the heat is coming from. what i found was,at the lower rear corners of the engines side panels there is an opening on each side.the heat is pushed out by the engine's cooling fan. not sure of a fix yet,but i am working on it,just need a way to redirect that air to the bottom of the machine,or out of the sides of the machine.
perhaps us guys who feel like their feet are sitting on a hot bed of coals could convince deere to offer louvered side panels for the engine compartment.that would truly be the best fix and it would also be a nice touch to the overall appearance of the machine.maybe if we all bombard deere with e-mails of this problem and this solution they would recall the machines to have such panels installed at no expense to the customer/owner.
after just a couple of hours on my machine,it feels like the top of my feet are on fire. hopefully J.D. is listening...........

On my old 4300 it would sometimes blow hot air but if I moved my foot just right I could not feel a thing. Plus it helps it is always windy at my place so all the hot air was somewhat blown away.

Dealer picked up my 4310 today. He drove it nine miles to his dealership. Will let you know what they say about the heat.

Received my 4310 back Monday from the dealership. He contacted Deere and filed a case on it. Deere said that there was no other complaint on record for the excessive heat to the feet. Deere said to drive the tractor with long pants, socks and shoes only. I recorded the heat at my feet at 108 degrees.
This is not acceptable. Does anybody know of anyone at Deere that I can contact?

Please let us know what they come up with. I was brush hogging a couple fields for a neighbor with my 4200 HST Tuesday night and, since I couldn't use the cruise because of the terrain, I had to have my foot there for about four hours and was actually close to blistering through an old pair of basketball shoes and good, thick, heavy socks. It is really bad. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The dealer suggested removing the side panels. I did this and mowed for about two hours. It helped a lot.
