JD4310/Sync Shift/ 430 loader /toothbar
Well I just had to have those big beefy six ply tires. While doing some loader work today I found out that the loader boom hits the front tire when the bucket is fully lowered and the wheel is turned fully in either direction! I took a pix to show my new dilema to go with my new 4310. The loader arm can actually get positioned over the top of the tread. Bet I could blow out a tire if I dropped a heavy load right on it. For a solution I can switch to the standard smaller R1s or switch to the R4s. I had hoped that switching up to a 430 loader would gain me some clearance but the specs show the same distance from center of front wheel to front of bucket with bucket on ground for the 420 and the 430. Thats the only measurement I can find in comparing the specs of the two. If anybody can tell me if there is more clearance on the 430 I'll push that issue when I talk to my dealer tomorrow. I'm a bit disappointed that Deere lists the larger tires tires as an option without a notice that they can't be used with a loader. At least this is a problem that has some clear solutions even if it means giving up the tires I really wanted on this unit. I also hope that I don't get stuck paying to correct this problem.

Interesting, I was wondering if the 6 ply R1's are the same size as those R1's that come standard, that is, the size on the tire itself. I chose R4's for mine for the 6 or 8 ply rating and I wanted as much footprint and least amount of compaction. Your R1's certainly look up to the job, but that loader issue will be a problem.

Thanks for your response. For a 4310:
The standard R1s are 11.2X24 rear and 7X14 front four ply. The upgraded one I got are 12.4X24 rear and 7X16 front six ply. Some upgrade /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sounds to me like you are wanting R-1's. I have the R-4 tires and have no clearance problems with the loaders. The R-4's come in six ply as well but I am not sure if that is a tire you are willing to accept. Hope you can work this out with the dealer. The loader contacting the front tires is DEFINITELY UNCOOL! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

My smaller front tires are 6 ply, too. I have not had this problem, but will check. I don'r know if you can mix the sizes.

I pretty sure that it's important to match up front and rear tires with MFWD. If I just replaced the fronts w/ 7X14s I'd have too much drive train lead on the front while in 4WD. I'm glad I caught this early. The smaller tires will not be that big a deal to me if they are indeed 6 ply to handle the weight of a fully loaded bucket. I had read that they were four ply. I will accept the R4s as well. It's not like they are inferior at all. I'll probably lose the extra $200 I paid for the upgrade and will accept that if my dealer will get me the smaller one installed. Thanks againn guys for the quick ffedback. Ineed to pay a personal visit to the dealership first thing tomorrow morning with several pictures to show him. In the meantime I can still mow and grade, just got to keep the bucket off the ground. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Fronts are 6 rears are 4. I originally wanted R4s, the dealer got me the R1s. When I saw the front was 6 ply,and the r1s had more adjustment and better traction, I was glad to get them.

I am sorry yours didn't work - wait, what about that frame lift? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At least they sure do look /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The R4's on my L48 were 8 ply. On my L3830 they are 6 ply. I have 15 psi in the rears and 20 psi in the fronts. I could not put a larger tire on the front without having clearance problems with the large loader mount on the back side of the tire. The bucket would not be a problem. The traction for me with R4's has been quite acceptable. The tires are tougher then the stock R1's and much tougher then the R3's.

Thanks for the info. The R4s do seem to be a good choice for puncture resistance and load handling with good traction. I'm sure my penchant for 6 ply R1s is because I have never had 4WD or a loader on all of the tractors I've owned in the past. I did find a solution to my problem. The larger 430 loader is 4" longer from wheelbase to bucket front and should work. I took a lot of measurements on my 420 loader last night and was able to measure a 430 loader at my dealers this morning. So I will upgrade the loader which I think may be a big blessing in the long run. My dealer felt pretty bad about the problem, ordered me a new 430 loader today and will switch them out as soon as it arrives. I will pay the difference that the upgrade would have cost if I had ordered it new. I think thats a very fair solution. Now RockyRidge Mike and I can start engineering the lift kit to jack up the body so I can get my snow chains to fit /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well. I forgot you had the 420. And didn't realize it was shorter that way (makes sense)

That is the best answer. Upgrade the loader and keep the big swampers... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
