I can always find something wrong with everything. it is a fault of mine..but,,,on my 4310, there is no 5mph speed at the rated pto speed. i find this as a very bad judgement on the part of john deere. it jumps from 4.6mph to over 6mph. such a dissapointment. it makes for either slow mowing or fast mowing...

Its absolutely mortifying and stupifying how much 1.4mph matters.

Trade it in for a HST model.

I know man, to me, that's just more seat time. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
(maybe he feels it is just a longer wait til he gets a shower!)

It's funny that you say that, a lot of people get the cruise control... set it and forget it...just as if were a gear drive... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

One of my friends is a super ace mechanic who grew up on the farm withall sorts of equipment. last year he got a Kubota gear model that he really likes, except, he can not get it to mow at the speed he wants with the pto operating at the correct speed. I was surprised that he wants to get an hst...

I have the SpeedMatch upgrade that gives the creeper function, I am surprised how useful it is...

Get a wide enough, heavy enough mower that 4.6 MPH is just the right speed, or get a small enought one so that 6mph is just right.

755inNY,
I guess I'm too much of a perfectionist to mow so fast. I like the quality of cut I get at about half that speed. Besides, I've gotten over being a glutten for punsihment on the rough stuff, suspension seat or not.
Moreover, it's not a race, but an extended cruise to zone out and listen to the tunes or a game etc. and, I'm not the kind of person to hurry through the task to do something else. To me, the task at hand takes as long as it takes.
