JD 4310 e-hydro
Ok guys. I would like to hear from the new 4310 owners about how they like their tractors. I am close to buying but I am worried about the exposed electrical switches on the fender. Has anyone used their tractor in the snow yet? As a Minnesota resident who is going to be blowing snow it looks like a weak link. Will J.D. stand behind them if it turns out to be a design flaw?? Thanks for any help.

Read the posts on this posted by John Miller III and Muhammad in I believe the Photos Forum under 2002 NY Farm Show. They show pictures of these fender switches and cite same concerns as you....but I recall they also state JD's reputation of doing things the 'right' way and if there was a big anticipated problem with these switches in this location, then they would never have installed them there. Time will tell if this is a problem.

I too have a concern for the switches exposed to moisture. Luckily I can park my tractor inside for protection from condensation, but I see your concern about blowing snow. We will just have to keep everyone informed.

I voiced the same concern, but felt that the improvements outweighed the risk. We'll have to wait and see -- mine is ordered; let's stay in touch. I'm certainly not going to minimize it, if it becomes a problem.

Old Doc, I too have a 4310 on order and should take delivery by the end of April. Probably the only concern up front was the location of the switches and "How they would weather". Hopefullly JD did their homework on this... time will tell! I guess if that is the only thing we will have to worry about we all will be very happy! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

I know that the D series Boomers all have switchs on the right fender, expsed to the elements.
Have any of you D deries owners experienced any problems with your switchs ?

My TC25D does not have switches on either fender just levers for PTOs, 3ph and 4WD.

I have a 35D and there are two switches on the right fender. In my case I added two more (similar switches) to the dash. If JD is the same (and it probably is) these will be weather proof switches. I initially bought some cheap switches and the weather did in fact destroy them. The OEM switches have never had a problem and appear to be much more solid and designed for this kind of abuse.
