This is my first post as well but I have been lurking for quite awhile and have learned just enough to get myself in trouble. So much so that I decided to price out a 4310 with the ehydro, the 430 loader and 48 backhoe. I took some of the earlier advice and figured in the heavy duty buckets on both and some other goodies for a total list of about $31,200.

My local dealer was only willing to knock off about $2000 so I called another about 150 miles away and his bottom line is $26,756 or about 14.25% off the list. Also, there is a rebate from Deere of $1150 for a total discount of about 18%. I remember someone awhile ago saying that you should be able to get 20% off but there is one there with my name on it.

Is this about the best I can expect or should I go farther afield. My other concern is if I don't buy from the local dealer will he still service the warranty. Of course the current salesman said "absolutely" but ...

Thanks for any help

I just got same unit, but without the 48. I was interested in the 48, and remember my dealer saying about 27,500. So your in the ballpark. IMO you've got to let them make 'something'. IMO, I wouldn't sweat the small stuff about $500 +/-, on local vs. next county, but $2000 might be. Maybe ask your local dealer why he's so far off??
By the way, incredible tractor, I still grin when using it. Have about 50 hrs on it so far. Dealer has been great, dropping off stuff, etc....

Based on my own buyng experience and what I have learned from this site and others, I would say that if you can get 14-15% off list, that is a fair price. Of course you then take the rebates on top of that figure. There would be nothing wrong with going to your local dealer with the lower quote from the 2nd dealer and saying hey, I can buy this tractor for this price, what can you do? Having a dealer close by is certainly nice, but look at the dealer(s) reputation as well. A couple hundred dollars up front is a small peice to pay for years of good service. Good luck and let us know how you do

I had the same situation when I bought my 4300 eighteen months ago. A dealer I did not really want to buy from was about $1000 dollars less for the same package. I went to the dealer where I really wanted to buy and asked him what he could do. He came down $700 and I bought the unit that day. I would have paid the extra $1000 to do business with him. He has a great reputation for being honest and having an excellent service department.

Spend just as much time talking to JD owners and find the best dealer to work with. It will save you time and money in the long run.
