No Problemo - Seeing as it was the 1st post I was sure it was someone using a new name and pulling my leg - hence my pretty sarcastic answer. All in fun - and you're right in what you say - Here's to the next 450 hours when I can hopefully still say... "Trouble Free".

Enjoy the board! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: 4310 thoughts at it\'s 50 hr service

Steve,

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. I have a number of complaints about my 4310.
I bought my 4310 last July. It was used, had 22 hours on the clock. It now has 120 hours on it. I have had nothing but problems with this tractor since the day I bought it. I don't think I have ever had a piece of equipment that has cost me more money, in less time than this tractor has.

First off, the tractor came with the 420 loader and a 47 backhoe. It also came with a new 16' flatbed, steel trailer, chains, binders. The owners manuals for the loader and tractor were also included. Nothing else.

Well first, I had to buy the owners' manual for the 47 backhoe, then I had to buy a rear work light, then two more work lights that I mounted so they can swivel front or back. Then I had to buy a JD 513 rotary cutter, a speed knob for the steering wheel, and extra filters fluids for the service.
Well it became apparent, in a very short time, that the dealers are selling tractors which are only half complete.

No one tells you that in order to have a satisfactory relationship with your tractor, it is going to cost you, as much as you paid for the tractor, to obtain the necessary equipment, parts, accessories, to fulfill your tractors' insatiable desires.

I have tried my best to live up to my tractors' expectations, but have been unable to completely satisfy all of its' compelling needs. So far I have only been able to provide- a loader mounted fork attachment, 72" boxblade, 72" loader mounted front blade, Tuff Armor Kit, Rental upgrade kit, Rops mounted umbrella kit, 3 pt. trailer drawbar/receiver hitch, receiver hitch on center of front loader bucket, bucket hooks, hook bolted to top/back of backhoe bucket, tool box for storage of chains, fluids etc., on tongue of trailer, and a used dump trailer, 14' low profile with ramps that the tractor will fit in to haul, (had to repaint the trailer JD green/yellow to match tractor).
The tractor is still not satisfied. It is still demanding a post hole digger, loader mounted boom pole, AM/FM stereo, heated/AC cab, snow blower, and a landscape rake.

While it is true that the tractor has performed flawlessly up to this point, and I have not had to provide any repairs, it is only a matter of time till it begins to act up. If I am unable to satisfy its' greed for implements/accessories, I know it will soon runaway in search of a more qualified home.

So far it has been patient about the lack of a permanent shed, but at night, I can hear it moaning out back in the cold wind, and am loosing sleep because of it.

Please warn others of the inherent dangers of obligating yourself to this kind of relationship.

So far the only thing my tractor has broken, is my wallet.

All in fun, (too much time on my hands right now),

DT

Re: 4310 thoughts at it\'s 50 hr service

Well If I were you I'd have the tractor sent to counseling so you can get some resolution to this incredible need for accessories. It sounds like a real problem – one that you have to meet head-on. Mine fortunately has not had this incredible need for additional implements – though I will admit that it occasionally yearns for a box blade, rear mount blade, post hole digger, rear rake, wood chipper… hey wait a minute! I think mine has the same problem. It’s just being more subtle about it. I actually just bought it another front bucket to mount the toothbar on, and added a 3rd scv… I see where this is going. I’ll bet this gets worse the more hours it has on it.

I can’t thank you enough for making me aware of this problem. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

ROFL...you had me going for a minute.
When my tractor starts moaning for more stuff, my wife puts cotton in my ears.

Re: 4310 thoughts at it\'s 50 hr service

DT,

You have me very concerned. I am about to purchase a 4310. At first I thought your problems were due to your own over indulgence that resulted in you spoiling a perfectly good tractor. After all I have a 16 year old JD 755 that has always been parked outside with no cover regardless of the weather. Sure, I plug the block heater in on the really cold days; I'm not heartless. I have fed the 755 sparingly. A used back blade, a new PHD, a tine harrow to play with in the riding ring and a brand new bucket last year when the original just couldn't be fixed with the welder anymore. It has worked hard, without complaint all these years.

My concern is maybe it isn't you. Maybe these new model tractors with all of their electronic gizmos, tilt steering wheel, curved styling, etc are spoiled at birth.

DT,
I must say, that was superb.

PS
When the moan turns to a growl is when you have to worry.
