Re: 4310 thoughts at it\'s 50 hr service
Steve,
I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. I have a number of complaints about my 4310.
I bought my 4310 last July. It was used, had 22 hours on the clock. It now has 120 hours on it. I have had nothing but problems with this tractor since the day I bought it. I don't think I have ever had a piece of equipment that has cost me more money, in less time than this tractor has.
First off, the tractor came with the 420 loader and a 47 backhoe. It also came with a new 16' flatbed, steel trailer, chains, binders. The owners manuals for the loader and tractor were also included. Nothing else.
Well first, I had to buy the owners' manual for the 47 backhoe, then I had to buy a rear work light, then two more work lights that I mounted so they can swivel front or back. Then I had to buy a JD 513 rotary cutter, a speed knob for the steering wheel, and extra filters fluids for the service.
Well it became apparent, in a very short time, that the dealers are selling tractors which are only half complete.
No one tells you that in order to have a satisfactory relationship with your tractor, it is going to cost you, as much as you paid for the tractor, to obtain the necessary equipment, parts, accessories, to fulfill your tractors' insatiable desires.
I have tried my best to live up to my tractors' expectations, but have been unable to completely satisfy all of its' compelling needs. So far I have only been able to provide- a loader mounted fork attachment, 72" boxblade, 72" loader mounted front blade, Tuff Armor Kit, Rental upgrade kit, Rops mounted umbrella kit, 3 pt. trailer drawbar/receiver hitch, receiver hitch on center of front loader bucket, bucket hooks, hook bolted to top/back of backhoe bucket, tool box for storage of chains, fluids etc., on tongue of trailer, and a used dump trailer, 14' low profile with ramps that the tractor will fit in to haul, (had to repaint the trailer JD green/yellow to match tractor).
The tractor is still not satisfied. It is still demanding a post hole digger, loader mounted boom pole, AM/FM stereo, heated/AC cab, snow blower, and a landscape rake.
While it is true that the tractor has performed flawlessly up to this point, and I have not had to provide any repairs, it is only a matter of time till it begins to act up. If I am unable to satisfy its' greed for implements/accessories, I know it will soon runaway in search of a more qualified home.
So far it has been patient about the lack of a permanent shed, but at night, I can hear it moaning out back in the cold wind, and am loosing sleep because of it.
Please warn others of the inherent dangers of obligating yourself to this kind of relationship.
So far the only thing my tractor has broken, is my wallet.
All in fun, (too much time on my hands right now),
DT
