No, not at all. Sorry for being confusing.

All I'm saying is that an HST only consumes about 5% of the engine output. As a result, if you compare a geared tractor to the same model HST, there would only be a 5% difference in power available to do work, either pulling, mowing, or whatever your do. If that 5% difference renders you unable to do the work you want, then you probably picked too small a tractor.

I'd recommend you size the tractor to the work, then pick the transmission based on convenience and preference, not based on the fact that an HST robs a tiny bit more power than a geared transmission. I just don't think the power consumption difference matters in a any practical way.
