Hmmm....this may be the only reasonable choice. I can hardly wait to
see the new hood....
My 4300, BTW, is one of 4 or 5 units that had defective flex plates, which
were replaced by JD. That's the plate betw the HST and the engine. I
had not heard that there were units that came new with oil debris
problems.
The aluminum millings were found in some of the very first 4400's off the assembly line, so it was a relatively rare event. (my luck)
I will be interested to hear how your replacement hood fits -- got mine on after spending hours attempting to do a neat job of relieving a 4 inch by 3/4 inch area of the plastic that protrudes down toward the rear of the fuel filler opening in the replacement hood.
