4410 JOHN DEERE TRACTOR BARELY HASREVERSE BUT HAVE FORWARD

HI I NEED SOME HELP WITH MY 4410 TRACTOR I HAVE FORWARD BUT REVERSE BARELY WORKS HAVE CHANGED FILTERS AND FLUIDS AND CHECKED THE SOLENOIDS. ANY ADVISE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
It says the oil comes from the power steering return line, then goes through a filter, gets regulated to 160psi, before it gets to the clutches. Did you say you replaced the proportioning valves?

What does it do? Does it rev and just barely grab like the clutches are slipping? If so, they might be not getting their pressure, or could be burned out.

I had a 1981 JD 2240 that had a reverser transmission, lever on the dash to reverse direction with hyd controlled wet clutches that did all the work. If you hyd pressure is low, the clutches will slip. As a tractor ages, all the springs in the various hyd valves start to loose their tension due to age. On the 2240, all I had to do was add shims to the hyd pressure control that was part of the hyd brake casting under the right floorboard. After that, I went thru it and put in all new valve seats and springs thruout the tractor. Not saying this is your problem, but you should check the system pressure if all the above posts don't fix you up.
