Dirtboy, you have certainly done some research. I would also agree with most here about the 4610. The clear advantages over the 4410 are the loader which is a considerable one. I would take the greater loader even over the greater HP. Having a greater lift height is also huge and something you run out of quickly. The eHydro would be a great addition. Someone mentioned liking the gear simply because they like to throttle the loader. I find running the loader on my tractor which is hydro works great at about 2000 RPM, theres plenty of power and the speed of the loader is great. It's also quiet at that speed. I consider it a non issue. I use both routinely. Using medium range gives you everything you need and the shifting from 2nd to go into the pile and then to 4th to move the load is eliminated. While the debate between hydro and a manual/shuttle comes up every now and then, I find that both are very effective and there are times when a shuttle tractor would be preferable. I love how smooth, quiet and the control I have with my new HST tractor.

I checked into the 4310 and 4410 prior to my tractor purchase. If I was deciding between the 4410 and the 4610, I would be pushing the 4610. Thats saying a lot because the 4410 is excellent also. In fact, if the 460 loader was available for it, that's the way I'd go. Save up for the 4610 and 460 loader. The extra few thousand dollars will seem small after a few years time. Rat.

Ditto Kevin on the power reverser. You have all the best of a gear tractor and the convenience of a hydro when doing back and forth work like a loader and much less cost than hydro.

No biggy, but the ePowrReverser is only on the 4310/4410, the big brothers drop the electronic controlled tranny....

You caused me to have to look at the brochure again!

The brochure says you are right, but I sure thought the 4510 I drove was electronic. The reverser lever worked with a very easy 'click-click' action. Unlike the mechanical reverser levers I have used. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifCould they have added E-reverser to big bros?

Kevin,

The e-reverser is more of a joystick deal and not the clunk action of the mechanical reverser. The e-reverser works by an electronic circuit so it's a little easier to operate. Kind of like moving a joystick on a video game.

If you are even thinking of a 4610 you better buy it! If you don't you will be kicking yourself for not spending the extra few bucks for it. I had a 4600 w/48 hoe and was astounded by how much that 460 loader would lift...The hoe was pretty good also, but no match for a real backhoe. I had the PowerReverser tranny and would get another in a heartbeat..Seems like a big reason to get a hydo is because a girl (usually the wife) is going to be driving it. Never could figure that one out /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Here in Maine, a gal on a tractor is no big deal, might be different in Boston... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I sold my rig because I got a smaller place, but I sure do miss it.

You're right. My wife up until a few years ago kept up her class A CDL. Wasn't unusual for her to bring one of her Dad's wreckers to a big scene, get out in skirt and heels, and jump in the car and head back to their dealership. When they all got done gawking, she'd announce, I drive it here,, you do the chains and lifting and stuff. She always drove my T & T units at least coming with me ten days a year. Yes sir, females in NEw England still run standard transmissions and aren't afraid of a little compact tractor..

There was a time I might have made a statement like that. Two years ago I test drove my first hydrostatic per the recommendations of the infamous MChalkey a member here at TBN. Owning a manual and a shuttle shift prior to that (I still own the manual), I was quite experienced with the inner workings and capabilities of both.

"Seems like a big reason to get a hydo is because a girl (usually the wife) is going to be driving it. Never could figure that one out"

Best guess for anyone who would make that statement is that they are not very familiar with a hydrostatic transmissions. Guessing by the ever growing popularity of hydrostatic drives here at TBN, you will get plenty of argument regarding that remark, I'll leave it at that.

My suggestion to anyone is too give both transmissions a good working. In fact, the hydrostatic should be rented for a day to really understand the enourmous abilities it offers. Rat...
