447 BH Bucket measurement

How do you measure bucket size on a BH? I just purchased new a 3120, 300cx, 447 BH with a 100R Rankin thumb. I thought the standard bucket for the 447 was 9", but mine looks larger than that. Total spread between the outer tips of its teeth is 14" and when I measure across the top of the bucket, side to side, it measures 12 3/4". Could it be I got a 13" bucket?

That's about what my 13" bucket measures. I think that they are sized by the trench size that they would dig but I can't swear to that. The 13" came on the hoe & I had to special order the 9" specifically as a second bucket because I wanted a narrow trenching bucket for wire & pipe.

The 9" is std. But with some soil types, it could be real pain to use. (like clay) A smart dealer would have automaticly upped it to the 13".

I have the 9" and am lucky to get a trench les than 13" with it. Sometimes I don't hit a rock... Ok, in theory anyway...

Should have checked the configurator first before asking this question. Now that I see all the options in front of me, it's clear I've got the 13". Thanks for the input.

JD quotes the 9 as standard but every dealer I have ever talked to always orders them with the 13 since it seems to be the best all around size. Although I have thought about picking up a 9 for those occasional tight digs...
