My New Holland TN70A (3 CYL Turbo Diesel) has 215 hours. I bought it used at 170 hrs. Changed the oil and filter. Oil is still as clean as the day I changed it. I thought it was supposed to turn black real fast. Anything I could be worried about?

You aren't working it hard enough? If that's a worry.

1500 average RPM and 2300 max (for 30 seconds at a time). Mostly 1500 rpm (max torque at 1400 rpm).

So, I need to run at 2200 RPM for a few days?

I checked the oil in my Kubota with 32 hours on the oil it still looks almost clear on the dipstick. I use the pink off road diesel (500 PPM + sulphur) and that is supposed soot up the oil too.

My first post was a grin. The RPM is not the determiner of work on a tractor diesel, it is the torque demanded by the load. The "throttle" on a tractor is really the governor control which sets the RPM. That control then controls the "throttle" as we normally think of it.

You may not be loading high enough to generate soot or your engine could have very good piston rings and is not passing any soot past the rings to get into the oil. I would not worry about it.

Ahh well; just for interest sake pull the drain plug and change oil. Then tell us if it's still as clean and clear as the day the oil was put in!:D

Right at 24 hrs on mine...and when I take a drop from the dipstick..and a drop from a fresh bottle of Kubota 10W-30 oil...put side by side on a piece of white paper...cant see a bit of difference!
