4500 Tach problem

Hello Everyone,

I just bought a Mahindra 4500 4 wheel drive. It has approx 80 hours on it. I was using a 1963 massy 35; this is a powerful tractor!

Only issue I have is the tach not working. It will jump up when I increase the rpm's but just jumps all the way over until it is pegged out. Has anyone else had any issues like this?

I've got a 6000 with over 400 hours on it and I haven't seen an issue like yours. I believe the tack is electrically operated....so check the connections first. What year is your 4500? BobG in VA

2002 model. The hour meter works, tach does not.

We're up here in Prince William County (next to Manassas Battlefield Park). My 6000 is a '02 as well. I'd get in touch with a Mahindra dealer about the tach, especially if the hour meter works...BobG in VA

I took the alternator to a local electric motor shop, they installed a new rectifier, cost $38.00 tach now working and alternator charging.
