450E Dozer fuel

NOW NOW Fellas.. the tutorial is of a COMPLETELY different animal than what the post has..
There IS NO WAY to pump a hand primer & get fuel to or thru the injectors.. PERIOD..
Unless you have a 450E or KNOW fuel injection pumps.. I suggest you bow out. Gracefully..

Man, I've got that routine down pat for my Ford 3910. :ashamed: I've had a couple of long walks back to the barn to get 9/16" and 5/8" wenches. Then have to ask for a ride to carry a can of diesel out to the tractor. Swing the battery out of the way and loosen the injector lines. Crank until no bubbles appear. Tighten lines and it usually fires right up. Without a working fuel gauge you'd think I'd carry diesel and wrenches. I check the level before I start but time gets away from you when you're having fun. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Are you saying the 450E does not have a mechanical handle on the fuel pump?

If you can't do it manually, then you will be spinning your starter until it gets the air out of the lines. You might want to have a battery charger or jumper cables on hand. Is the 450E 12 volt or 24 volt?

Just a quick google search to see what the fuel pump looks like on a 450E shows this one for sale. It clearly has a mechanic handle on it for pumping the fuel by hand. Which is what it was designed to do. It also looks like it has the clear glass bowl on the top. On my tractors, which are not Deere, there is a screen inside there that needs cleaning out regularly.

I just loosen one line, (at the injector) all the air will go to that line and get out. AND have the throttle wide open...

When the engine starts, it will run rough, close the line and it will soon smooth out...

No need or reason to hold the throttle wide open. At cranking speed the fuel/stroke delivery amount is fixed.

BUT, once it starts, it cleans out faster... (the air out)

I took the easy route. I put some fuel is a spray bottle, removed the air intake hose to the throttle body, cranked it over and it started instantly by spraying fuel into the throttle body.
