I have a 4510 with a 460 FEL that I bought used. This is the first modern tractor I have ever used. I would like to add a snowblade, backhoe, etc in the future. The manual says that I can add upto 5 (i think, its not with me) hydraulic outlets. Im sure that I have looked right at them, but I cant seem to find where they would be. I would like to get a backhoe very soon, but Im not sure how to hook up the hydraulics for it.

Also, the snowblade that Im working on will mount in place of the bucket and would need some way of utilizing the power angle. I imagine, that I would have to mount a control lever somewhere for that.

There are 'sort of' up to 5 hydraulic circuits available with your 4510. If you have the FEL you already have two control circuits - and the actual outlets have been plumbed to just in front of your right foot. Then - if you look close at the valve body that the joystick ties into - you'll find that you actually already own the 3rd valve - but it has not yet been piped out anywhere - and you don't have a control handle installed for it. Deere sells a 3rd SCV kit that is nothing more than that lever, and a few pipes, hoses and fittings. It can be set up with the outlets either next to the 2 circuits that are there now for the FEL (best for a 4-in-1 bucket or a hydraulic front blade as you're describing) - or the 3rd line outlet can be routed to the rear behind the seat for use with a rear attachment. (Actually either location can be used with an implement at either end of the tractor - it's just that you'd have an extra long hose to use and get in the way to reach the outlet. So you want to set up the outlet to be nearest your most common use.)

THEN - Deere sells an electric valve that re-directs the joystick circuits between two whole pairs of lines. Set one way - you're controlling the front circuits for the FEL. Flip the switch the other way and you're controlling a 4th and 5th pair of outlets (usually mounted at the rear of the tractor). So in a way there are 5 in total - but not 5 completely independent circuits.

FINALLY - the Deere backhoe uses a 'power beyond' tap into your tractor hydraulics. This does not use any of the tractor-mounted control valves - and doesn't really have anything to do with the circuits described above. it's simply an optional raw hydraulic power feed out and return line in. Usually routed to the rear - in fact the standard rear-mount 3rd SCV outlet bracket has the holes in it for the power beyond outlet/inlet pair.

Neither the 3rd SCV nor the Power Beyond kits are all that expensive and both are within the abilities of a normal shade-tree mechanic to install. The electric diverter setup for the 4th/5th circuits is very expensive.

Excellant explanation of " I can do what with the hydraulics?"

When you do get around to the backhoe... Look long and hard at the Deere hoes before going to a different brand. The fit is amazing, the ease of install and removal is great and they are made for your machine. I actually paid less for mine than many "off Brand" ones I checked...

I would tend to disagree on the cost of the fourth and fifth remotes. I beleive you build and price this option and it was around 1200 dollars I beleive. That elec. diverter is rather pricey. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I know you aren't referring to me... But What exactly are you disagreeing with...

not you I was disagreeing with the hyd being cheap.

Who said the electric valve was cheap? It surely isn't!

Current prices from JD Parts for just the kits -

3rd SCV Kit - $204.00
Power Beyond Kit - $215.00
Diverter Kit - $1,100.00 /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
