2005 4520 jd
I have had a 4520 jd now for about 6 mo. now and am
pleased with its performance .I have about 60 hours on it, The only disapointment I have with it is the lift ability of the 400x loader, but not to the point I can't pretty much do what I need to . The fuel sender is erratic at times and causes the gauge to give a false reading. Just wondering if any other 4520 owners have had this same problem and what have been their pros and cons to owning their 4520. Glad I got the power reverser and r-4 tires nice machine. Also mounted a mirror on the loader support, this really helps when driving from one job to another on the highway. thank for any comments or imput from the 4520 boys!

I own a 4520 eHydro with the 400X loader. No disappointments with the lift capacity---it will lift far in excess of the weight aft of the front wheels (I badly need a rear ballast). As to the fuel guage problem, JD knows about it and will replace the sending unit under warranty. There are numerous posts about this anomaly further back in this forum. Tell us more about the mirror---type, installation, etc. A pix would help.
On another subject---Roy's response to the poster about reading the manual for PTO engagement instructions was right on, not a hint of "rudeness". As Harry Truman once said, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen".

mounting a mirror on the loader next to the steering wheel really helps. I just went to good ole wal-mart and bought a mirror for a ford truck. I used an angle bracket bolted to the loader and just drilled a hole in the top of the bracket and put a nut on the stem of the mirror. cost about $10.00 for mirror and nut. angle bracket came off of an overhead garage door
used to mount side rails. worked perfect. aliitle chrome never hurt anything!!!!!

Just had the sending unit replaced on our 4120. It went crazy for awhile and then finally quit working completely (showed empy all the time). About 100 hours on the tractor.

No issues here with loader capacity. Full loads of wet clay dirt or gravel - no problem.

I have a 4120 (same frame, etc). I am surprised at the lifting capacity. To the point that I wonder if something is wrong. I have a 2000# forklift that will lift more by 30% than my 4120. I suppose I could cobble together 2500# and test it at the base of the forks.

My fuel gauge was broken the 2nd day I had my 4720. They replaced it under warranty. Also, my fuel door feel off. They fixed it at the same time. I heard JD had gotten a bad load of senders.
