Checked out a 4520 today. I was surprised when I saw this one on the lot, as they seem to be few and far between. Very nice machine. The seat and the tilt steering wheel, among other things, are noticable more refined than the 10 series (smoother and finer machining). I like the insect-like looks. It's kind of cool on the bigger machines. You really need to see one in real life before making any overall judgements about the 20 series appearance. It's an awesome looking machine and doesn't look like an overgrown lawnmower, as some have suggested. I want one!

The Twenty series use the exact same seat, seat suspension, steering wheel, and steering wheel 'cover' (center) as the later Ten series. Internally, the steering column is different, as are the supports (now plastic moldings instead of a steel fabrication.)

It feels a lot better to a user. They did something right. In fact, the poor operation of the tilt on the 10s was something I noticed when I was at the dealer last. It's not a big deal, it's just noticably smoother. Since it's now plastic, I hope it holds up as well.

Are you sure you're not talking about the New Hollands? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually, I do like the look of the new 4000 Twneies a lot. They look modern. The New Hollands aren't bad, either. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Welllll..... asthetics are definitely in the eye of the beholder. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I've looked over the Twenties 'in the flesh' and I'm definitely not 'smitten' with the styling. But that's a personal and subjective impression - seems like just as many folks like the look as not. Me - I like the 5000-05's better than the 4000 Tens - and the 4000 Tens better than the Twenties. Guess everyone has an image in their mind's eye of what a tractor should look like. Me - I like Farmalls (*real ones*) so I guess I'm a little anti-modern when it comes to tractors. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Tim,

I completely agree. Everybody has different tastes. However, I do like the looks of all tractors, including the new JD Twenties.

In thinking about it a bit more, it's more than the looks. It's the feeling of compactness that you get. It appears from the drivers seat that you have excellent visibility and manuverability. I like that feeling of nimbleness. That was without a loader attached.....I'm sure the feeling will change a bit with a loader.

The compactness does change some with the loader installed. I've driven the 4320 many times and the only thing that strikes me as different driving than my 990 is how far out the bucket seems compared to the old style 430 and 460 loaders.

Just ordered my 4320 w400x, frontier backblade w/ hydraulics, LX6, It should be in my pole barn this Friday, maybe even late Thursday!
I loved it the first time I laid eyes on it, sat on and drove it. Far exceeds my needs and expectations.
