455 that wont go uphill

I have a 455 w/ about 450 hrs. and when it gets worked for about an hour it will losse power and chug and shake while trying to go uphill forward, and can go uphill in reverse with no problem, ocassionally it will act up as I am side-hilling /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Have you checked the hydro fluid? Almost sounds like you are losing fluid pressure in the system when in certain positions which could come from low fluid.

I agree, sounds like your low on hydraulic fluid.

Going up hill, the fluid runs back and is not being picked up. In reverse, up hill, the fluid runs the other direction and is being picked up.

If the hydro fluid is good, then check the driveshaft where it bolts to the engine crankshaft, see if the center bolt that holds the crankshaft pulley tight is tight, I had one present the same symtoms wich was followed by a squeeling sound. You will have to remove the rubber connection from the driveshaft to engine connection to check this bolt..

Thank you for your idea, as it turns out, all that was wrong was, the fuesable link for the fuel pump had a broken wire, the injector pump could suck enough fuel under normal load, but with the added load of the up hill climb it would starve out with the fuel pump not pumping.
