460 FEL - Question on hydraulic lines

Hey, I have a JD4510 with a 460 FEL. I have not had it very long. I was doing some bush hogging this weekend and noticed that when I make a sharp right hand turn, my right side tire rubs the hydraulic lines and the line caps. I was wondering if any of you had seen this? What did you do to correct it? I am thinking of buying a large radiator hose, splitting in and wrapping it around the lines. Then I was going to tie wrap the lines to the channel on the FEL to keep them up and out of the way. What do you guys think? Is that good? Will it work or is there a better way?

If I recall correctly (doesn't always happen) but I think you can turn each hose so they all hug closer to the frame, and out of the way of the tire.
To turn them, you will need to loosen the hose-to-steel line connector on each line and turn it before tightening. That is something that should be done in the set-up but I think is sometimes missed.


A pic of the way the hoses lie now would help. You should be able to tell if they would be out of the way if turned toward the frame.

Shouldn't have to put a plastic tie on it each time you hook the FEL up.

Good point on the tie wrap. I will try to get a pic taken and also look at turning the connectors.

I have a 4710 with a 460 fel. I have had the front tire rub the hose end protectors because they were hanging down but never the hoses themselves. I now wrap the protectors up around the lines and connect them together to hold them up and this fixes that problem.

The hoses on mine are way above the tire to where they couldn't possibly rub.

Do your hoses run through a braided protective sleeve where they loop up around the lift arms? This holds all of my hoses together and it is attached to the loader arms with plastic ties. This does not interfere with the quick disconnects.

Ditto what Partsman2 said - even at a maximum right turn angle the worst I can do is tickle the hose caps with the tire tread bars (R1), never the hoses themselves. Sounds like something isn't routed quite right.

My hoses do run through the braided protective sleeve. But I do not have the plastic ties as you do, that hold it to the frame. You say that yours came with the plastic ties? You didn't add them yourself?

Yes, mine came with the plastic ties attaching the hoses to the arms on the loader. It is definitely factory.
