Just curious....

Is anyone pulling the MX7 with a 4600, 4610, 4700, or 4710?
Has anyone tried to pull the MX7 with one of these tractors?

I was just wondering if these tractors would handle a heavy-duty 7ft. rotary cutter.

I pull an 8' Woods mower with my 4600.

I would not really reccommend the mx7 It Is simply to big and bulky. I use a medium duty 8' bush hog and it pulls it fine. Besides the Bush hog is cheaper, better built, doesn't stick out as far, and keeps more weight on the front of the tractor. I know the paint doesn't match but I have a mx6 it is fine Still a light duty mower in my opinion. The Bhog is the same price for a much better mower. Conclusion, the 7 foot single blade is too big and bulky. The twin blade mowers bhog and mx8 would be better choiches. I use a 4710 to pull both mowers and there is really no speed difference in thick grass between the 6 and 8 foot. Hope this helps you. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I pull a Buehler 72" Finish mower on my 4600 and have no problems - whether it is thick grass or not. I have thought about getting a bushhog for cutting my pasture, but have not made the plunge yet.

Why the concern about the MX7 on the 4600?

As I stated in my first post the 7 foot single blade sticks out way too far to be a good and efficent cutter on these tractors hooked up with a loader and mx7 you are nearly 22 feet long. Not very manuverable in my opinion. Plus judging a finsih mower to bhog is like apples to oranges. A hd 8 foot bhog will weigh more than the mx7 be heavier yet have less leverage on the tractor. There is not a doubt in my mind the 4310 through 4710 tractors can hadle this size mower. I used my 8 foot behind a 28 horse 1720 New Holland and it worked fine. Just took a while to get it up to cutting speed. So to end I say go with the same price on an 8 foot twin bade Bush hog brand or similar, stay clear of the mx7 it is to long and awkward. I think we paid 2300 for a MD Bush hog 8 foot mower it is much heavier duty than my mx6 and cost only 200 to 400 more. Just my 0.02. But I use my stuff comercially so I don't like buying light weight stuff with only a year or two of life.
