My new 4690 backhoe was delivered last week. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Dealer had it installed on a 2710. Removed it from the 2710 inside of my barn. When I tried to install it on my 2910 the first time I spent over 2 hours and never did get it installed using the instruction that Kubota includes with their manual. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif See attached file.
Mechanic from dealer came out yesterday and installed it on my 2910. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif He sure made it look easy after I had spent all the time Saturday and did not get it installed. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif
He made some suggestion that may make it easier to install backhoe in the future.
1. With backhoe pump attached and running use stabilizer arms and boom to raise backhoe high enough to remove 2 5/8 bolts that hold 3PH limiter bar in up position. This allows bar to drop down out of the way of lower 3PH arms.
2. Lower 3PH all the way down.
3. Use stabilizer arms and boom to raise mast bar high enough to set on top link lower pin.
4. Roll tractor back to align mast bar with lower pin.
5. Lower stabilizer arms to set mast on lower top link pin.
6. Insert upper top link pin. Install both linch pins in top link pins.
7. Raise lower 3PH arms and insert handle pins and spacers into the proper holes. May have to move backhoe around a little to align holes.
8. Install locking rings.
9. Raise 3PH limiter bar up to lower 3PH arms and reinstall the two 5/8” bolts.
10. Install the sway pins in lower arms to limit side movement.
Backhoe is now installed on Tractor.
I installed backhoe on my tractor today in about 30 minutes. I should be able to do it faster with some practice. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif
Removal requires a lot less time. But I’m still slow at that until I get more familiar with it.
Mechanic suggested that the chain for holding the top link pins be thrown away. If the pins with chain ever dropped down and got caught on the turning PTO shaft, it may cause an injury.
Does anyone have some other hints on how to install the 4690 backhoe on a tractor with less effort?
I used it on a small project yesterday. What a great tool. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
