4690A Kubota backhoe help

I have a Kubota L3830 found a 4690A backhoe 3pt hitch with PTo pump. I know everyone's against 3pt backhoes but this one is $2800 and in my price range and if I do get it plan on building sub frame or reinforce the 3pt hook up so my ? Is I have went to look at it yet till tomorrow is this backhoe to big or small for my set up? Also any in put on this model backhoe or building a subframe for it would be appreciated good and bad! I also found a Pittsburgh Taylor I think model 722 3pt back hoe for 3000 but don't know much about them and the name the Taylor made one is in nicer but I don't know about getting parts I figured the Kubota brand would be easy to get parts a my local Kubota dealer but it has some hours on it just any input would be nice I'm looking for advice as for know I really need a backhoe I have like 5 ponds to clean sediment out of each where small springs feed into them this would be easy digging when we built the ponds we designed them fir this task and 20 years ago it didn't cost much to have a guy come and dig them out every couple years now it's getting pricee where I feel I can save money and use a back hoe now that I have a decent tractor thanks to all.

Kubota makes loaders, mowing decks ROPS, tractors, lawn mowers, utility vehicles and other things in the US, so a backhoe made by them is possible.

Would not think of hooking that hoe to L3830 tractor without a 4 point mount in any way. Bradco has a kit and Kubota has 4 point mounting kit for the Grand L series, see if they can be adapted.

Not true. Considering Kubota has been a leading manufacturer of mini-excavators and compact TLB's for many years, making their own tractor backhoes is something they also do very well. I have owned a Kubota manufactured BH for more than 10 years.

As for the 4690 BH that Foxl3830 is asking about, it also dates back a number of years and was in production for a long time. Being a 3 point type backhoe, it was considered a light duty attachment, but many owners have done plenty of work with them. The main issue in using it for the pond cleanouts Foxl3830 describes is that, being a 7 1/2 foot BH, its limited reach could be a handicap when doing work near the bank of a pond. Foxl3830, will you be able to keep the back end of the tractor high and dry with such a short reach?

Also, while subframe mounting for backhoes is much more secure, if all that's being done with it is that pond cleanout work, that ought to be reasonably mild duty for which the 3 point mounting might be OK.

Additional comment: Regardless of which backhoe is being considered, check to make sure there won't be a problem with where your head will be when on the backhoe and the ROPS on the tractor, particularly if it's a folding ROPS.

Hey if it's sized ok for your tractor I'd get it! If you've got any ability with a welder, making a frame for it won't be that big a deal. I'd consider myself a beginner when it comes to working with steel but I managed to make a NH backhoe hook up to my Kioti.
You can use it on the 3pth for starters while you build up the frame. Ya, go cautiously so you don't beat up or break your tractor while you don't have a frame mount.
I'm really happy with how my frame mount turned out, I can load/unload the backhoe in a couple minutes.
Frankly if you can find a decent backhoe for 3 grand I'd say that's a good deal. I'm sure you've seen the price of what a new one goes for. I'm guessing for your size tractor you'd be looking at 7-9 grand for one with a frame option.

Hi,

I think the be 4690A may be a bit small for your tractor. It is about the right size for my smaller be 2910. The B-2910 is the same size as the B 3030.

I am not up to date on what the current size designations are. But if I had a B 38XX tractor I don't think I would be considering a 4690 backhoe. I would think it better to get a bit larger and better matched in size for your tractor.
