I agree with Mike on using BoeShield - good stuff including the
rust remover.
Though, I currently use a vci (vapor corrision inhibitor) on virtually
everything (electronics, outdoor equipment, engine bay, etc.) to
prevent corrision.
You can buy it in sprays; tablets; stick-ons; etc.
I use Bull Frog products since I can no longer get the stuff
I started out using years ago.

The stuff that gets shipped on cargo vessels (the HUGE container
ships) are usually wrapped in a "tarp" which is impregnated with
a VCI.
I've seen some car covers and tarps that are available which contain
VCI. Pricing isn't too bad.
If nothing else: wash it off before storing; dry it; and spray some
BoeShield all over. The only spots that will rust are the ones you
missed.
