Re: 4700 - u can call me \"Owner\"

Thomas - not sure exactly what year the 340 was hatched - the prior owner told me it was a "51". I did buy a IH Tractor Guide with serial # reference - but never had a chance to look it up before I sold it - anybody need a slightlly utilized "IH Buyers Guide"??

Re: 4700 - u can call me \"Owner\"

Dan- I haven't been able to unleash the backhoe yet as everything around here is froze pretty solid. Guess I will have to wait a couple on months to use it.
Think that I mentioned that I had a Curtis cab installed - was really concerned about that part of the deal. --- well! --- last wknd I was working the machine in complete comfort at about 20 degrees outside temperature - my neighbors standing around drooling were the biggest problem! One advantage that I hadn't really thought about was the dust and horsey doo-doo debris generated moving about a 100 yds of dried poop - driving into the wind - WOW - the cab just made a major positive in that deal. I would have been covered in crud if it hadn't been for the cab. I was warm / comfy / and clean at the end of a day that would have had me just the opposite without the cab.
I will try and post a picture as soon as I can figure out the "how-to" section of the wife's digital camera.
GO - GREEN!

gvw,
If you don't mind me asking what did it cost you to get the cab?
Thanks,
Richard

Re: 4700 - u can call me \"Owner\"

gvw,

I'm kinda jealous of the cab. Its been rainy and cold the last couple of work days. This past weeked I did not even go out to the property because the ground was to wet to work the tractor. First time since at least October of 2000 that I have not worked on the property.

How is the visibility from the cab? What will you do in the summer with the cab? Will you roast inside of it?

Don't tell me that have A/C in there as well!

Re: 4700 - u can call me \"Owner\"

Dan - no AC at the moment mainly due to the lack of space under the hood for the compressor and related mech stuff. I understand that there will be a retro fit kit availabe to add AC in the future -at which time we will see. As both the doors come completely off and front/ side windows open should have plenty of air movement for the summer - we will see. As to the cost -it was about $3K with the additions - lights, rear wiper, elec. panel etc. One down side is that the noise level is a little bit higher but I will live with that for the other creature comforts.
You can look at the cab at curtiscab.com for a better idea of what it looks like. I was orginally concerned about the visibility but have quickly decided that it is not an issue as the area that I was most concerned about seeing the front bucket is covered by the loader upright arms anyway.
