Probably will be. First I want to sub-soil quite a bit of area a little at a time to try to improve some compaction and drainage issues from bigger (5-6 ton+) tractors that have been used to work our fields. (Anyone know of a beefy single-shank subsoiler a little less dear than the Monroe?) There should be some plow, disk, and cultivation work down the road as well. Then we've got half the property in damp woodlot where we cut a lot of firewood with some decent slopes up/down from the open fields.

I never really considered R4s as I just don't consider R1's to be an issue (marking). Everything except one GT here has R1s and only the truely big tractors (like an IH986) are a problem. Even on the garden tractors the one with turfs makes more of a mess from slipping than does the one with bar tires and weights. Of course we don't attempt to keep very much of the 'yard' in suburban-level super-manicured shape. It's green, and it's short. That's about it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And except for the septic tank/field area - if we have to run a tractor across it - we do. Knocks down the mole tunnels!

That's how I look at it, too. I keep telling myself that if there was a MMM for a crawler tractor I mow the lawn with that. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

When I started this tractors were still on steel wheels! At least it feels like that sometimes! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually, I've always liked and knew the most about *old* tractors (letter-series Farmalls, 2-cylinder Deeres, etc.,). That's what I started out figuring to get for this small 'chore' tractor. It wasn't until I found TBN that I started to appreciate the many changes that have occurred, mostly for the better, over the years to small tractors. That greatly expanded my list of planned duties and that pushed me into a new, modern, tractor.

Still want that Super C or H, though. Someday. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
