4720 first impressions

Well I've had the tractor for around 3 weeks now /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
finally got the fel and tiller installed today /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
still waiting on the imatch and box blade /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Stuck the 631 tiller into the ground for a short period and was pretty impressed. Just chewed up the ground with ease and moved on.

The tractor handles dirt MUCH better than the 990 in the fel.

I'm reallly glad i moved up instead of the 990. Although I'm not knocking the 990.

Do you mean the digging (engine hp grunt), the lift power of the 400X, or the balance or 'feel' driving with a load in the bucket?

Other than hst on my lt166 mower - yes - this is my first tractor with hst.

really nice,,,,, better than I hoped for. I had only used hst on the parking lots of tractor places. I still have not done a lot but have some hours on it now...

Perhaps its the loadmatch but I can not stall it. I'm not really trying to (other than as a test).

I did a few hours of tilling and moving dirt this evening and it really shines for that job.

As compared with the jd 990 this tractor will get a hold of dirt much better.

More than anything the 990 didn't have the traction to push into dirt nearly as well as this is doing.

This is working much better for me just scrapping down into the hard pan and letting me push into the dirt and pick it up.

The lift if much better.

I don't seem to have even the slightest lack of power in respect to lifting. ( no lack of power otherwise either)

I'm so far very very pleased with this tractor and the attachments.


NOt that any of this should be a surprise - the 4720 is supposed to do a lot more than the 990.

I'm just saying for my purposes the 4720 was as much or more than what I was looking for.
