Thank you, and yes, it's the 12" bucket. I was close to changing to the 14" heavy duty bucket, but since a lot of my work will be trenching, I think the 12" bucket will be fine. My mistakes will be smaller that way. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Congratulations....man that backhoe is impressive...I wouldnt even try to operate that...seriously be careful with that backhoe, I had a friend take a corner off a house with one.

You guys talk like you know me or something! I will be careful (and I'll probably still take the corner off somebody's house). I tried it out a little bit this afternoon. Didn't get much done, just a little digging around. It's really simple to operate, and quite sturdy. I'm impressed with it myself. I've decided that for my long driveway with a foot of snow, the FEL is not the most efficient way to go. In the market for a rear blade. Gonna try that before I go to the expense of the snowblower.

Hopefully by spring I should be able to give a pretty good report on both of those issues. I'm already quite pleased with the R1s in the snow. Since most of my work is right on the farm . . . not much if any lawn work, I think I'll be happy with them but if I do get onto the grass I'll let you know how they do.

The backhoe's going to take some learning for me. It's really fun to work though.

Hey bro. For some reason using that 3rd valve for the BH is puzzling me. Is it rated for that duty? Will running that pump for BH work cause undo risk on the SVC pump? If you loose that 3rd circuit for some reason will that affect the DSCV?

Just kinda has me scratching my head. I keep looking at the Power Beyond option for under $200 and wondering what the risk of using that 3rd vlave will cost if something goes wrong.

Bolt idea does look like a great idea to keep the valve on. Make sure you do not crack the plastic housing.

Also one other thing - do you use it full-on - I know the SCVs let you control the amount of hydraulic pressure. What is needed for the BH?

You know, those are all good questions. Personally, I don't know that it is worth the risk, if there is one, and I don't know a good way to assess that. I was inclined to get the power beyond kit. The dealer told me before he did the setup that he was going to check with the Deere reps to make sure there wasn't any reason not to do it. I didn't get any kind of a specific response from him on that, so I'll ask him the questions you have posed and make sure that he did follow-up with the dealer.

I haven't used the backhoe much yet, but I would not want to do any damage for the sake of that couple hundred buck. On the other hand, if there's no danger of damage, I certainly don't mind saving the couple hundred. I do think that the PowerBeyond kit would make that 3rd SCV available for other applications, such as perhaps a grapple or something else on the bucket.

I'll let you know what response I get . . . probably on the owning and operating board.

That's a beaut of a machine Grant. If I had waited a couple extra years before my purchase of a 4710, I'd be keeping you company with a 4720. What's more impressive are those mountains in the background. Are they the Wasatch or Uintas? I spent a few of my college years in Logan and fell in love with the Wasatch mountains.

I have to agree that is one nice looking machine. I wish I could afford a 5X25...maybe someday.

Like rancar said those are some impressive mountains in the background. Any chance we can get some photos of those...of course with the 4720 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Thanks guys. I agree that those mountains are pretty impressive. The 4720 is up there now . . . I wish I was! I'll try to get some pictures of it up there, maybe this weekend. I'm going to work on getting the snow cleared off the existing road, clearing and leveling a spot to build my barn, and building a new road. Think I can get all that done in one Saturday? That might just be a bit much, even for the 4720.

The mountains are part of the Wasatch range. That view is looking west. Provo is just on the other side of the mountains.
