4720 with a HX15

Can I run a HX15 behind my 4720? I know they list the minimum PTO for the HX15 as 55PTO and the 4720 only has 50. It sure would be nice to be able to do my creeks at my place with it.

Very unlikely. The HX15, besides requiring 55 PTO hp, is far too heavy to be used safely with your 4720.

First - overall weight of the HX15 is far greater than your 4720 - even with max ballast you'd have a heavy tail wagging your dog. The HX15 weighs 5250 lbs.

Second- static drawbar vertical (tongue) weight is nearly twice what your drawbar is rated for - 1920 lbs vs. around 1100 lbs.

You are into a 6000 series tractor or bigger to run that big of a cutter successfully. Lot of folks out there doing just that cutting Interstate medians and the like.

Aw come on Tim. The problem could easily be solved by using TWO HX15s. Mount them on hydraulic boom arms. He could drive down the creek and cover both banks that way. I don't see what the problem is.... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Thanks for the info - that suckers takes a big ole mower. Some guy was telling me that a 5303 would handle it...
