After reading about others using the MX7 mower behind a 4720 tractor with good success I purchased a like-new MX7. Today I went to hook it up for the first time and found that the MX7 is a category 2 and does not fit on the category 1 hitch on the 4720. I know others are using this combo. What's the trick to making this work?

Thanks for your input.

:welcome: to TBN

I believe it is just a matter of changing it back to the original cat I.

Do you have an iMatch quick hitch?

Looking at jdparts.com they show a conversion kit to change from Cat I to Cat II, so I suspect yours has that kit that needs to come off.

Can you post a pic of what you have now?

My mx7 is only cat2 from what I was told. It's 1300 lbs and sticks way out there. It's the reason I had to go with the cat 2 quick hitch.

Good luck

The MX7 I have is one year old and came from the factory with a cat 2 setup. Also, when I checked the JD website it indicates the MX7 is cat 2. I will take some pics in the a.m.

Tractor Supply (TSC) has hitch bushings for this.

get the Imatch hitch and you are done.....PLUS you will enjoy it with your other 3 pt implements. Consider it a cost of buying the MX7

You have to use a cat II hitch. The JD one is $580. If your three pt isn't cat 2, it won't fit.
