Backhoe 48 Backhoe hydraulic hoses question

I have a 4310 with the 48 backhoe. Over time, both of the hydraulic lines that connect to the power beyond have needed replacement. I replaced them both with hoses I had made at Napa. Well, they have done their job, but since they were a little longer than the originals, they tend to kink up and get in the way. Well, this weekend when I was putting the hoe on, I was careless and pinched a hole in one of them.

So, the question is...I'm getting annoyed with these hoses not really fitting in the way they should (anyone who has put the backhoe on knows what I mean). Should I buy original parts from Deere (which will be insanely expensive I'm sure) or is there a website that carries well made replacements, OR should I have another set made up at Napa. Does anyone know the right length for those hoses if I do have them made?

JD Parts lists the connecting hoses as part number AM127908 @ $101 each. I think i would take another pass at NAPA or hose shop.

Holy moly!! That is just insane. Does it by chance list the length on those hoses?

There IS another choice.....just buy pre-made hoses for about $20 each
from a place like Surplus Center or Harbor Fright.

The length is a compromise between being long enough to be able to
operate the hoe off the tractor to get in on/off the subframe, and short
enough to store easily out of the way when the hoe is installed. Consider
re-routing the hoses in less vulnerable places for when the hoe is mounted.
In my experience on other CUTs, making the PB loop QAs hang free (rather
than connect to a bulkhead) gives some additional flexibility in terms of
routing the loops of "extra" hose.

I have the 48 hoe on my 4520. I have had to repair a few hoses. The mechanic at johndeere told me I would be money ahead to go to napa and use their hoses and couplings. He said the ones which came on the hoe where not a good qaulity or coupler.. I have had a couple hoses just blow right out of the coupler crimp. Look on the bright side, hydraulic hoses only break when you use them or are in need to use them..

Ha, so true...So it seems the consensus is to go to Napa...which is good because they are cheap.

So, does anyone know how long these hoses should be? I liked the original length best.

I'm bumping this old thread up because I still have problems with my hoses being too long. Does anyone know the exact length of the OEM hoses?

If you go to JDparts.com you can find the hoses you want to know about. Put them in the cart. Then click view cart. Then click on the part number (it wil be in blue). This will open a new window showing the specs. The will be a place at the top to change the specs from english to metric. You will get ID length, end type, threads of ends, etc.

Thank you for the help. I followed your directions exactly, but the only specs I get are weight, price, and availability...

Wow, I'm all over the internet searching for these specs, and I can't find a thing. Very frustrating!
