My only advice would be that whatever the manufacturer says the mower can do, assume it will only do half of that with any satisfaction and last for any length of time doing it. So if you have 1" stuff to cut, get a mower that will handle 2". Also in general, unless you are ONLY ever mowing grass, rotary mowers live a hard life. Between woody stems, hidden stumps and rocks, berms, etc., they really get hammered. So if you want it to last get the heaviest duty mower you can afford/manage. I had a relatively light duty Woods mower on a previous tractor and there wasn't much left of it after 4-5 years. Next time around I got the Bushbull 720 heavy duty mower at probably 2x the cost, but now nearly 20 years later all it has needed is an input shaft seal and blades. And it doesn't look all banged up even though it has hammered many a stump and rock.
