$4900 BX22

So, I came across an ad on Craigslist for a BX22 with 166 hours, being sold for $4900. This raised some red flags, so I decided to contact the seller and ask why he's selling it for such a low price. His response seemed legitimate enough at first, but the "I will take care of shipping" part seems a bit unbelievable for someone who's selling the tractor at such a low price.

I am selling this tractor because my platoon has been sent back to Iraq and don't want it get old in my backyard. The price is low because I need to sell it before September 25st. The tractor is in great condition and runs great. It has 166 hours on it.
It is still available for sale if interested, price as stated in the ad US $4900. The tractor is in Billings, MT, in case it gets sold I will take care of shipping. Let me know if you are interested, email back.

For a long time, Craigslist was fairly free of these, and they ran (and still run) rampant on Ebay. Now with Craigslist getting more popular, these are all over Craigslist too. Since you can shop within your own state on Craigslist, always make sure you can view the item in person before paying for it.

That same tractor ad was listed at $6000. in Portland, Oregon Craigslist last night.

The response said that it is in Billings, MT and he would take care of shipping because he wanted it sold by his Sept. 25 platoon deployment.

What got me was that a supposedly near deployment young serviceman living in Montana would call himself "Mr. Richard"

The scammers are now posing as buyers on Craigslist, too. They're fairly easy to spot based on the poor grasp of English, or the common thread is 'I'm interested in your "product" and want to buy it. Let me know if the "product" is still available so I can cut you a cashier's check immediately.'

I've also had a few scammers give me the 'I'm interested in purchasing your ****, please call or email me'. So I email back and say "do you have any questions about it?" figuring that'll get them to leave me alone if they're scammers, and sure enough, I never hear back.

A real buyer always has at least a couple of questions before agreeing to come over and hand over money.

My worst experience with a scammer was when I decided to try selling a truck on Ebay and had the "Buy it now" option enabled. A scammer "from England" did the buy-it-now and tried to dupe me into shipping the truck. :| Fine, whatever, just ignore him, but the buy-it-now ended the auction that I paid to list! E-bay was horrible to deal with with this to get my auction relisted, which I didn't even want to do at that point anyway. Sometimes newspapers and similar publications are still the best medium.

That same tractor was on CraigsList in Columbia SC for $3500! He claimed to be in Edmonton Canada and would ship it free and even pay return shipping if I didn't like it I mean how could I lose
