Price Check 4940 Pricing

I apologize for getting away from the thread. That is close to the price I paid for my 4940C but my dealer bought a lot of them on his first purchase this was the last one he had and he sold it to me based on that price. I believe there was a 3000- 4000 dollar price increase to the dealers from montana this year. How much is one of the new ones with the curved loaders. If they are the same price you might try negotiating with him some more.

I have the R-4 industrial tires. Prior to my purchase of the montana I had a Massey Ferguson with Ag tires. I dont see that much difference in traction between the Ag tires and The R-4. Between the two I much prefer the R-4 tires.

Thanks, for the reply on pricing Gemini5362. It really seems that all threads kind of take off in there own direction and it is really not anybody's fault, just human nature.

So, basically, I think I am in the right range as far as prices go and sounds like a toss up between the ag and industrial tires.

I guess I will also change the direction of the thread and ask about a hydraulic top-n-tilt set-up. Anybody set one of these up and did you use the cylinders with the pilot operated valves or just regular cylinders? Apparently, you can adjust a control knob under the seat to stop the cylinders from leaking back, is this correct also? I plan on using the remote outlets and valves already installed on the tractor. Any problems with this scenario?

Thanks,

I have a hydraulic top link on my 4940 I used a non pilot operated cylinder and it works ok for my needs. From some of the other threads I have seen the pilot operated works a bit better. The big thing about the valves under the seat is the one on the right if you are looking at the seat with your back to the FEL. In one position it has the remotes acting like a Single direction cylinder if you have it in that position when you extend the top link out the first bit of pressure you put on the implement will push the cylinder back in. The other position of the valve has it acting like a double action cylinder and that is the position you need for the top link hydraulic cylinder.
