I work on the actuator that controls that turbo (competing with the one you have pictured). Just curious, are there aftermarket schemes for commanding and controlling? I'm only familiar with the OEM setup through the ECM.

What is the weight of the 4bt and what hp/tq are you going to end up with?

I am not sure of the weight of the 4BT is, somewhere around 600 (I think) but there is a Ford Ranger in the current Diesel World magazine that a guy dropped one into. His is a P pumped version, with single turbo and the pump has mods to it. They are not expensive mods, like adjusting the fuel plate, 4000RPM governor springs, and an upgraded turbo. They report he is getting 208HP and 487lb-ft of torque, AT THE REAR WHEELS. So that Jeep will climb telephone poles if you keep it strapped on.

One nice thing about that kind of torque, is you can use a lot higher gearing than a gasser and keep the RPM's down on the freeway for super high mileage. I had an '01 TJ with the 4.0 I6 and felt good to get 15 hwy. I would expect with 3.42 gearing his would give close to 30. 3.73's would probably give 25+.

Depending on what Tcase NP205 would be ideal, he uses, it and the tranny might hold up but I bet the rear axle will need to be a Dana 60.

The control I am using for the variable is made by a friend of mine, his name is Steed Dolan and he builds the banshee turbo controller which is pretty badass, I have the newest version that is fully integrated and self sustainable

I am planning on putting I a twin stick dana 300 t case just looking for the right one, I am also looking to put ford super duty axles under it, I will cut and narrow them for a custom fit, I will most likely spline my own axles in my mill, just waiting for the right deals to appear on the parts

Well it doesn't sound like those parts will be the weak part of the drivetrain then.

One note on the Dana 300. The article about the Ranger, I mentioned, he used a Tcase from a '78 Ford F250 because it was very narrow and fit between his frame rails. Something to consider if that is an issue with the Dana.
