From the above site, it looks like the Posi-Loks only go up to '98 with the big GM's.

But then again, an hour ago I didn't remember the product name, so what do I really know ?

my 98 dodge i just recently got rid of had the 4wd stick shifter on the floor.. I must say.. it never failed to shift when i needed it..

Yup, mine is a 1999 Dodge Dakota 5.2L V8 with 265,000 KM (164.667 MI) on it. Still going strong.

I have seen this before on GM trucks that the 4x4 is not used often. Get under it with a rubber mallet and give the transfer case a few good whacks while she is in it selecting 4high/2high.... This will free it up in most cases.

Just did this fix to a neighbors 05.

My 04 had this problem a few times.

I had replaced the encoder motor twice and these were the exact symptoms. The switch was also a common issue, but if your switch was a problem, none of the lights on the buttons would light.

If this is the first time that the encoder has been replaced, thats not too bad. GM, Ford and Dodge all use a similar system, and all are prone to failure.

Never heard of it on a Ford. The few 4x4 issues I have seen with Fords have had to do with the vacuum valve on the passengers fire wall near the battery or on the vacuum lines themselves.
