I've used 2wd tractors for some time ( yanmar compacts ) and now I have a NH 1920 4wd.
Question here. Generally around the fame I use 2wd. I have been disking the nort 10ac the last few weekends, and have found that I need the 4wd to pull and turn well while pulling the disc. Here is the actual question... is hte 4wd used just to do the manuver, then you disengage it.. or is it ok to leave it in 4wd for the whole job. ( I.E. while I'm in the dirt discing )
Thanks,

Chris

On all ground engaging tasks... leave it in MFWD continuously... and bring your ground speed up to about 4-5 mph ... for most jobs {as long as your implement is sized to your tractor...}

To clarify - my brain was engaged in farm tillage implements with the optimum 4-5 mph...

Of course when using your box blades, rear blades, etc. {non-tillage type}... the job will dictate the proper ground speed... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Like John said, just put'er in 4WD and let'er rip as long as you're in the dirt instead of a hard surface.

I hardly ever take mine out of fwd. I use it when I mow because the ground is so steep in some parts and Iuse it when I back blade. The tractor is so lite I feel better with it in fwd.

Good, that was what I was hoping to hear. Leave it in 4wd while working( not on hard surfaces )

Thanks to all,

Chris
