I found a local business that is selling misc. implements and 8n and 9n tractors. They manufacture large industrial steel tanks. On their down time they make box blades and rear blades out of the steel scrap. They have a 5' box blade for $500. It is made from 1/4" and 3/8" steel, really reinforced at the stress points. It seems to be built much heavier than the county line @ TSC. My concern is warranty. I can weld / repair if need be, but if I spend 500 bucks, I don't want to worry about that for a while. What do you guys think? Around here you can't find used implements at all, and when they do, they want a fortune, almost the price of new.
The second part of my question is if $1000 is worth it for a 5' Land Pride finish mower. It doesn't look like it was used very much. What do you guys think I should offer as a fair price for both?

Don't know about the box blade, but last year I bought a 6ft Land Pride finish mower that wasn't used very much for $750. Seems a little high for a 5ft model. In my area, finish mowers are a dime a dozen. People buy them for big yards and realize it's a whole lot easier and faster to buy a zero turn mower. So finish mowers are all over Craigslist for good prices, at least in my neck of the woods.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking offering $900 for both, if they come back at a $1000, I might jump on it. (I was thinking 300 and 700 respectively). Probably they wouldn't take either offer individually, but maybe at as a "package".

Oh and also, Craigslist here very seldom even has brush hogs. There are 2 rusty old POS ones on there now, $1200 and $1400, old rusty rear blades that won't even pivot for $800!!!!!

I think that is a gamble I might take on the box blade. Make sure it has replaceable cutting edges.
