hi,
Would by Max 25 be able to handle a 5 foot brush hog?
Thanks, Gary

following the rules of 5 PTO HP per foot of cutter, it would probably be a tough go.

Thanks for the fast reply!
I was looking for a 4 footer but I saw a 5 ft for $300 so i thought I would check...
Thanks again!

I would have to say it depends on what you are cutting and how fast you want to cut it. I run a 6ft behind my Branson 2400h but that is to allow me to mow between the blueberries and maximize the cut. I also do not go very fast between them. It does cut my time down from 4 hrs to 2 hrs since I no longer have to make two passes in each row. Which I had to do with the riding mowers. DSCF0991.jpg

I run a 5' bush hog behind my 28hp Montana. Has no problem with a field with grass and weeds 3-4' high. You may not be able to mow at 20 mph, but unless its a golf course, usually the terrain limits speed anyway.

Also, can your 3PH handle the weight of a 5 footer?

Steve

It will handle the weight no problem.. since it is HST your gona find times it dosnt like a 5ft mower in heavy grass so just slow down a bit.. but regular kept stuff wont be an issue.. I have a customer running a 5ft shredder on a 2015 Mahindra (20hp) and says it runs it fine.

Advice is correct. If 5' rotary cutter is in ok shape for $300, get it.

I agree. I run a 5' cutter behind a B7500 (16 PTO HP) and it handles it ok as long as I go slow. You might need to disconnect the toplink to let it lift the front of the cutter a little easier.

I've used a 5 ft. King Kutter behind a 9N and 8N for years, horsepower is about the same as the Max25. Just have to run in 1st gear.
