eBay/Craigslist 50,60,or 7040

Thanks to all for your comments. I would love to just jump out and get a 8540, but when I look at my "lil" IH sitting there I keep asking myself what the heck for.

Same as when I recently purchased my new truck. Would have loved to have gotten F-350 King Ranch, but settled for my second F-150 and have never "needed" more. As I knew before I'm the one who has to decide, but peace of mind going in is a benefit.

I guess most of us hobby ranchers get envious when we drive down the road to the guy with 500 head of cattle, a 100+ HP Tractor, and big implements.

Thanks for the comments I might try to get a loaner from the dealer to at least set a baseline expectation. The only other tractors I have access to right now are sub-compact or monsters. I'm sure whatever of the three I get will be more comfortable, ergonomic and more powerful than the IH.

Extra money in the retirement account doesn't hurt my feeling either. Half of the way there.

I can sure identify with that and refer to a saying on here, "Bigger isn't always better, sometimes it is just bigger."

Have you considered an L5740?

I had a 2 wheel drive F150 (7" Fabtech on Pro Comp A/T 35s - looked great - completely useless - got stuck in the mud once - got rid of it that same week), then a 4x4 F150 (7.5" Fabtech + 4" body on Toyo Mud 38's - sweet ride & served its purpose - then we needed something that would tow a toy hauler) so we went to a 4x4 F250 with 6.4L... The bottom line is you might find what you need on your 1st swing in an L model or a smaller M model - but I went for the M7040 because I didn't want to look back. Weigh the pro's and con's - make an informed decision - have fun. It's all good either way.

Im also looking at the M60 /m50 but now I'm leaning toward the L57. I'll be towing machine to job sites for land clearing and stonework/landscaping. The weight and size of the M models make me a little nervous vs the smaller weight and size of the L57 with the HST tranny.. If I had a farm and big land, didn't have to haul tractor I'd go with the M60-70 no ?, but having to tow it I'm leaning toward the L57. Any one towing an M?
