Is the 50 hour mainenance something the dealer does for free or if not, did most of you do your own?

I let my dealer do the 50 hour maintenance just in case something was wrong. I will do all the other maintenance in the future like oil, filters, greasing, etc.

The charge varies from dealer to dealer but I paid around $200.00. I did have all the hydraulic fluid changed also.

Some dealers say the first 50 hr service is free when you buy your tractor, but I feel sure they have this figured in the selling price of the tractor.

I let the dealer do my 50 hr service. It was about $267. At the time, I didn't have the time or place to service it myself. Hopefully, I will have my polebarn finished before I'm due for my next service.

I did mine myself. It took about 2.5 hours and was actually kind of enjoyable. A nice break from some of the other weekly grind.

The 50-hr maintenance on my 3510 was part of the purchase deal. I provided oil & filter and transported the 20 miles to the dealer. Hydraulic oil was not changed. Current conventional wisdom is that it isn't necessary at 50 hours.

I would recommend changing the hydro fluid. That way you make sure that you rid the system of metal particles left from fabrication.

I agree with Mudcat. I was amazed at all the metal shavings that were on the magnetic drain plug and in the hydraulic filter. I would definately at the very least clean off the plug and filter then strain the fluid. The oil that came out of it looked brand new.

I'm gonna save the straining for my new filter.... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The item that had the most metal shavings in it was the hydraulic suction screen. It was really full of metal shavings. The only way to clean this is to drain the hydraulic fluid. Personally I feel better knowing it was clean and not worring about what damage they could do before they got caught by the hydraulic filter.

Just FYI for those people debating about what all to do at the 50 hour maintenance.

Where is the hydraulic suction screen and how do you get to it?

Thanks Bob
