HELLO TO ALL,
i did my 50 hour oil change, and it was not that bad. i did spend
some extra time looking for drains, that were shown in the owners
manual as being on the front axle (4 wheel drive), but they were
not there. has anybody else had this problem? i cleaned the strainer
in solvent, and put it back, with no problems. the only one i had,
i used a dry wall mudd 5 gallon bucket under the xmission, and i did
not know it had a crack in the bottom, sure made a heck of a mess.
later heard from my grandson, who has the same tractor, that he was
charged $283.00 for the 50 hour oil change.

Hey accordianman did you remove your front wheels? i went ahead and removed mine and found it much easier to work.

there are drains and vent bolts. on both sides. and in the middle i think (without looking) , just a drain.

i know it takes like 6 qts!

the bolts may look structural . if i remember i'll look at mine tommorrow. ( if i go out know my wife will know i am crazy! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif)

YES,
i removed the wheels. they would get oil on them if you leave them
on, and like you said, it makes the job much easier.

SOARKREBEL,
do you have trouble finding the oil on the dipstick on
the front axle? i could not see it, because the rod is
bright, so i took a coarse file, and filed a flat on the
rod, opposite the low, and high marks. now i can see
the oil. also found the drain plug that i missed. i will
get it the next time.

I had the same trouble with my hydraulic fluid. One of the guys here posted that he uses a blue paper shop towel and just lays the dipstick on it. The towel will absorb the fluid, darken and you can see how it sets on the dipstick. Good idea, I've used it a lot.

Accordianman , i used mystik in the frt end. it's red and shows up very well.
you probably did this but i had to remember to leave the vents open while filling. it helps get the air out and get the right amount of lub in it.
