Just finished my 50 hour service. Boy LS sure puts the filters on tight. I actually had to remove the fuel filter, bracket and all in order to get enough leverage to break the filter loose. But all went well though. Filters and all, it cost around $200.00 for the service. A note of caution though. I did something stupid, when working out the air from the hydraulics, I forgot that I had my brush gaurd down. When bucket went up had not problem. When I lowered the FEL it sheared the bolts off of my brush gaurd. Luckily they used soft bolts. Was able to fix in a few minutes with some grade 2 bolts with nylon lock nuts. It bent the gaurd a little. If you didn't know it was bent you couldn't tell. My hood now opens without lowering the brush gaurd. So I guess there is a positive to it. No paint even got chipped. Live and learn.

It's probably preferable to modify the brush guard rather than the hood.

Glad it wasn't worse.

What did you change other than filters? I just did the 50hr on my 4047H, and the filters totaled $150 (including the inner air filter they said to replace every 3rd change of the outer). I had to add some hydraulic oil to make up for what got lost, but that was it.

I changed the motor oil and the hydraulic fluid. The manual didn't recommend the hydraulic oil change, but my dealer did. The air cleaner is not due for a while. Of course I changed the oil, hydraulic, and fuel filters as was recommended. I did not understand why I needed to change the fuel filter so soon. The dealer recommended it, so I did. Total filters for me was $67.00

Of course the dealer recomended it he got to sell a filter that way!

Interesting. My dealer said to stick to the manual, and not replace the oil or hydraulic fluid at the 50hr mark. I actually cornered the mechanic, and asked him what he'd do if it was his tractor, and he said he wouldn't bother with the oil/hydraulic fluid at 50. He said he's been changing filters on them for quite some time, and has only found the very smallest of metal particles, with most looking like dust. He thinks that's because the modern machining methods have gotten so good as to leave very few sharp edges or high spots that will get knocked off in the initial use. In short, he said he's sure that the filters will catch anything in the first 50 hours, so replace them, top of the fluids, and run it another 150 hours before changing all the fluids and filters.

There is no need to change the inner filter as long as it isn't dirty. Dirty means that you had a hole or leak in the seal in the outer filter. Just look at it each time you clean the filter and if it is clean you don't need to do anything. Once a year is recommended replacement for outer filter but you can use them for years as long as they clean up ok and you don't damage them. I have used the same air filter on big 120 HP tractors for 2-3 years without replacing them and in very dusty conditions pulling disc by just knocking out the dust and blowing them out daily with compressed air. Only replace them when damaged. Never did replace the inner filters as they were still clean. My B26 is getting some carbon on it from the exhaust that exits right below the intake but otherwise it cleans up good at 240 hours or use. The LS only has 80 hours on it total and filter looks like new. I don't plan to change it or the fuel filter as long as they are clean. I buy clean fuel, keep it clean, filter it when filling and there really isn't anything in the fuel for the filter to catch so why change out a good filter. My RTV as same filter as came on it in 2009 and 250 hours later and it is still clean (clear plastic housing so you can see the condition)
Many of the dealer recommendations are just to sell filters. Mfgs recommendation for once per year is I believe based on up to 1200 hours of use per year. I base this on their warranty claims as most say 1 year or 1200 hours which ever comes first.

My oil filter was tight also. My dealer also said to wait on the hydraulic fluid change out.
I can just imagine the Korean Popeye that puts those filters on :)

They paint that first oil filter on. I had to drive a spike through mine to bust it loose (after painfully bloodying my hands trying to wrench it off). All of them that came after that came off easily with a strap wrench.

What has killed my air filters is diesel soot. The dust blows away with compressed air, but the soot seals them.

I don't know if "seals them" is accurate but it does stain them black. My Kubota is stained black from soot because the exhaust blows out right below the air filter but is no where near stopped up. I can put my leaf blower in it and not detect a bit of back pressure from the sound of the blower, in fact the air moves thru it so easily that it wont blow out very much of the dust, I have to use compressed air to get it out. The LS has the exhaust rising up by the cab so nothing near the air filter. It is still clean as new but I haven't used the tractor in really dusty conditions.
Check the filter by putting a light bulb inside and observing the light passing thru to the outside when in a semi-dark room, I think you will find that there is plenty of filtration available even though it has some carbon staining on it.
