All went well!

One question my machine called for HyGard Lo Vis and I used it, it is light amber in color. The stuff that came out was pink (tranny fluid color) and looked nothing like HyGard. Don't they have HyGard LoVis in Japan?

I noticed the red color when checking the trans oil in my 990. And then I went to check the trans oil in our 970 that just got back from the dealer for its 500 hr. service and it was normal amber color. I have not done the 50 hr service yet as I am at 4.7 hrs. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif It has to be right though because on the dipstick for the 970 and 990 which is the same it says use only low viscosity hy-gard oil. Maybe its for break in /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yeah it's different stuff in my opinion. It could be my imagination but in addition to the different color the LoVis smelled diferent also.

The factory pink stuff could pass for power steering fluid/tranny fluid, where the LoVis is much different.

I noticed that too. The red coloring is just a dye. Suppose to help find what component is leaking and to keep people from using the wrong fluid. Well thats the theory anyway.

Were you as surprised as I was at the force of the THF as it poured out of the gearcase? I spilled THF all over the rear tire and subsequently the garage floor.

I used 5 gallon horse water buckets and their height caught the fluid efore the tire, barely. Yes, I was surprised it was garden hose like.

How wa your metal shavings on the sceen and in fluid?

I also smelled the oil just to see if it was in fact different from the Low Vis and it is. The 4000 series uses the Low Vis right from the factory in its normal brown color. Maybe it is a different color in Japan.

I believe my manual has temperature charts for LoVis and regular HiGard leading one to believe you could use either. THE dipstick says LoVis only. Perhaps there was a change and 790s are still shipping with the regular stuff?

Can't be a change cause I ordered my tractor straight from the factory since I don't like to get equipment thats been sitting outside for too long. Unless my trannys old? Low vis and regular hygard are compatable so there should be no problems. Regular hy-gard is amber like the low vis so I don't know what the deal is with our tractors. I'll ask someone at work. They should know.

I did the 50 hour on my 2210 last week. My fluid that came out was red in color also.
Maybe it is dyed so the dealer can tell if it has had the 50 hour done ot not.
