That's the first I have heard about changing tranny fluid changes the HST noise-interesting -wonder why?

fish_whisperer,

I would be concerned if I found much crud on the magnets, after the 50 hr. service, if the fluid was just lubricating the HST. I don't know much about hydraulics on other CUT's but on the 4115 that's lubricating the HST and running all the hydraulic driven attachments. I'm probably still collecting crud from the old log splitter I hook up to the power-beyond. I probably won't be splitting again 'til fall. I expect I'll be at 500 hr.s by then. I'll re-check before more splitting and see if any crud is building up from my new implements.

It seemed to me that the oil that I put in was thicker than the old oil /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Could be. The 2210 ships with low viscosity HY-GARD. Did you use the regular HY-GARD when you changed the transmission oil?

Bought my filters and fluids today. I'm getting close to my 200 hr service for my 2210.

Engine Oil, or hydraulic fluid?

Seems to me there was a thread that discussed the low viscosity for breakin. I could not be sure with the hydraulic fluid as the fluid I took out was hot and what I put in was cold.

I was referring to the tranny oil. I replaced with the low viscosity fluid. I had warmed the engine prior to the change but I dont remember it being that warm. Could it be that for the breaking in period JD use a special oil?

Did you change your engine oil at 100 hours ?

<font color="green">I did and again at 150 hours. That averages out to about twice a year for me with the amount of time I use my tractor.

i wouldnt worrie about a small amount af very fine metal shavings on those magnets, you will always a little but if you check it and there is an unusual amount especially if the shavings are larger, something may be going wrong. on a jet engine these are called chip detectors and when you get enough shavings on one it completes a circut and and turns on a light or an alarm.

fish_whisperer,

The residue on the magnets has been a fine greasy paste, almost like a soft lead...no flakes. This last change was the least residue. I'll keep an eye out for "chips" during future changes.

Again, Thank you. You knowledgeable members continue to be a great resource for all of us.
