Just completed my fifty hour service. Just a small problem though. I forgot to do the strainer....ugh! Finally got it done without draining the hst by removing the left rear wheel (more room to work), then removing the screen and replacing it with a number 5 rubber stopper. Washed off a few silicone bits and replaced it. All in all, I “lost” 8 oz of hst fluid. I did put a two inch wood screw into the stopper for ease of handling.
Lesson here is it sucks getting old and forgetful.

Those “old” experiences came up with successful and cool fix. Nicely done.

thank you sir. It took a while of thinking so I thought I would share my experience just in case someone else "forgets".
I was worried about what I would find on the strainer and in my estimation it was 98% clear with just a bit of silicone.

I just did mine on my BX1870 at 385 hrs. Easy for me as I changed out the fluid also. Didn't see any metal or other crap on it. I also found a grease fitting I didn't know existed-for the speed control pedal, which is accessed lifting the little rubber piece on the floor mat;)...
